CASHEW NUT SHELL LIQUID

 

Extraction Process

CNSL constitutes 20-25% of cashew nut shells and is extracted via hot oil pressing, solvent methods, or supercritical CO2 processes to yield raw or distilled forms.​
Purification removes impurities like sulfur compounds, resulting in pale-colored distilled CNSL with key components: cardanol (60-65%), cardol (15-20%), and anacardic acid.​

Key Properties

CNSL exhibits high viscosity, low volatility, and excellent adhesion, polymerizing into flexible, heat-resistant resins under acidic or basic conditions.​
It offers superior chemical resistance, flexibility in cured films, and compatibility with synthetic resins, outperforming phenol in many eco-friendly formulations.​
